Encyclopedia of Television

The Encyclopedia of Television, under the guidance of the Museum of Broadcast Communications, features over 300 contributors who tackle a wide range of topics in television history. While individual programs are featured, with detailed cast lists for those of particular significance, the encyclopedia mostly focuses on broader themes such as network histories, censorship, and profiles of notable individuals like performers, producers, and inventors. Accompanied by black-and-white photographs, such as studio publicity stills and headshots, the work is edited by Horace Newcomb and includes more than 1,000 online essays. Library Journal calls it "the most definitive resource on the history of television worldwide."
